1/48 Airfix Sea Vixen FAW.2
That's right folks, I'm building a 1/48 kit! I was chatting with a mate back along about my loss of modelling enthusiasm when I glanced at this bad boy in the stash and decided it could be just the thing to get it going again- a great kit of one of my favourite subjects. Despite feeling a bit dirty, I've rather enjoyed it so far, with much of the interior complete; the cockpit is just lovely. I decided to spray it in RLM 66 rather than black so that it will be more visible should I decide to close the canopy.
The seats are pretty much done too, though I intend to replace the ejection handles with wire and will probably add some belt too. I've also been working on knocking some intake blanks together as the seams inside the intake trunking are pretty prominent and more hassle to clean up. Most of the sub assemblies have been glued together too, with a dryfit showing a decent fit all round. She's certainly a big beastie, especially as I've chosen to spread her wings.
More soon hopefully, though for now the Horsa is the priority build
Cheers

Nice pit, looks intracately detailed.
I must do one of these in memory of my Grandad, who made these when he worked at De Havilland.

Re: 1/48 Airfix Sea Vixen FAW.2
Thanks guys
Scott, no more to report I'm afraid, the Spitfire has occupied my attention after a break for Christmas, and a nice, shiny new Hasegawa Typhoon arrived for me this morning for review, so my hands will be full getting those two done. I'll probably do a little bit here and there on her in the background whilst concentrating on the more pressing builds. To answer your earlier question, I suspect not. I tend to make exceptions of larger scales for either super kits, or super subjects, or both in the case of the Vixen!
Cheers
