1/32 Scale Mig 21MF
Guys,
A bit late for the party but this is my entry for this build. I have spent the last few days gluing the main sections together whilst waiting for the paints to arrive from MDC. I must say I am really looking forward to this build. It is somethign way different that I would usually do and I am loving it so far!
First up the contents
Intended scheme
The lovely Cutting Edge Cockpit that I was lucky enough to get a few years back!
Progress to date
More soon once the paint arrives - I intend to get the cockpit in and sealed for primer on the next installment
Guys a small update - The Cutting Edge Cockpit is now painted, weathered and ready to be installed in the airframe. I have also glued the engine in place to allow the correct setting position to allow the tail to be added. I have not bothered to paint the engine as yet as little will be seen once the rear fuselage has been installed.
More to follow soon
Guys,
A bit of an update - not much real progress as I have been working on the five tone camoflage - more to follow soon
First up - the reason the nose was painted the wrong colour... With the aid of a bit of hairspray...
The seat - now completed
A few update shots of the Sand going on..
More to come soon
Camouflage on...
More to follow soon once I have toned down the five tone camo!

More progress 6 September 2012
A bit more progress - the airframe has now had a couple of coats of matt varnish, followed by Oil Wash - I think I am getting towards the end of this project now - more to follow soon

Re: 1/32 Scale Mig 21MF
Looks the part James maybe a bit more weathering required and you still need to touch up those wing fences
Re: 1/32 Scale Mig 21MF
You think it needs more? I personally think it is looking about right, but then again I really do not like my models too heavy weathered.
What parts would you weather more?
Got the fuel take, missles and rocket pods to add soon

It looks pretty clean in the pictures but you always get that so I'll let your own eyes be the judge. I trust your judgement
Is it just me or is it dead in here

Hard to tell from pics as flash etc obviously has an impact, but my initial impression is with Scott, the panel lines do look a little feint...

I think I need to do some new photos - these look a little over exposed to me. I think it looks pretty good in the flesh.
I am goign to be really thick here but what do you mean by the wing things scott?

Wing fences are the vertical uprights on top of the wingsjamesv9820 wrote:I think I need to do some new photos - these look a little over exposed to me. I think it looks pretty good in the flesh.

I take it these need to be the camo colour and not orange?

That bit I don't know I'm afraid I'm no expert on cammoflage and markings in the Egyptian AF!jamesv9820 wrote:I take it these need to be the camo colour and not orange?

As for the airbrush, still not touched it. After a week like the one I've just had I'm not sure my patience levels would stretch to it! Digging the brush out sadly remains the most tempting option, but will hold out a little longer and see if the will to live returns!

Yes the wing fences are the vertical up rights on the wings. On the actual a/c it differed from being either Orange or the Camouflage colour depending on where the Black outline was. Everything outside of the Black line is the Camouflage colour and everything inside is Orange. Since your fences are outside they will be in the Olive Drab colour.

I have the same problem when photographing my builds, the flash always washes out the effect of the weathering against the colours underneath, as I said above go with your own eye.

Nice build James The Mig 21 is a bit of a fave of mine - i must have at least 10 of them in Diecast, including the Gypo one which is one of the best in my opinion.
I have two of the corgi Indian airforce Migs and i intend to paint one in a 1970's RAF camo scheme and markings...

Absolute minter! I must admit I agree about the wing fences- they probably should be camo! Great looking kit, and love the weathering to the nose. Hard to tell about the weathering from the photos and it really is down to personal preference at the end of the day!
