Iraqi Sea Fury FB-11
Hi all
This is the PM models 1/72 Sea Fury kit that i did in Iraqi colours by chopping up the decals from the Pm models T-61 kit. It was built as part of a GB on another forum. The kit was fine, decals awful but then again i only paid £2 for it so can't complain. I used Tamiya acrylics and then florymodels wash. I used the blu-tac technique on the cam and am quite pleased with how it came out. Anyway comments and advice welcome!
And here is one with its sister the T-61 in Pakistan AF colours;

Both Furies are great, good to see extra techniques being applied all of which add to the overall build and finish.

Thanks for the comments guys. One thing I did find a nightmare with these was masking the canopy. Most of the other models I have done have been 1/48 which is not too difficult but in 1/72 I found it near impossible! And then when I unmasked i had to spend 20 minutes with a cocktails stick scratching off where the paint had crept underneath.
Back to 1/48 for the next one i think!

How do you mask your canopies? I find the easiest way for me is to cut the masking tape (or buy it if you are lazy like me) into .5mm or .75mm strips and use these as the demarcation line. The tape is thin enough to be malleable and can conform to corners and will not allow pait to creep through. The rest of the canopy is masked with full sized tape cut into small strips.
Saying that, I have recently started using the Eduard masks and although they are expensive, they are brilliant!

That's useful, i had been trying to do it with a normal size piece of tamiya tape. I will try that. Next model up though is a Stuka which has what looks like a pain of a canopy so i might invest in a mask set. Saw one on ebay for 4 or 5 quid.

Do it, trust me, it seems expensive but if you are messing about with different sized strips, especially on glazing that small, it pays dividends.
